well i think the vamp would win. cuz the wolf has no chance i mean it can kill us but in oder to kill a vamp you need to put a wooden stick though it's heart. and the vamp can poof into a batand claw the wolf's eye's out.

I know of the creature - not in as I saw it.
Slight similarities, tho I doubt the Jersey devil could ever be considered as alluring.

Depends on the culture.
Some African cultures feared the Pheonix as it's death was a sign of impending tragedies - just like AVMidian said (sorry didn't read it all at first)
Asian cultures I believe worshiped it as well as most European cultures.
I was always more intrigued by the Russian version of the Pheonix. It was pure white and was rumored to speak. It would visit a single village of its choosing from time to time and help ease what ever burdens it was suffering from - illness, famine and others. However if the bird sensed it was in danger or being used, it's wrath was insurmountable.

Anonymous, People 'control' thier dreams, or try to consciously control thier dreams frequently, it's called 'Lucid Dreaming'.

All of that has nothing to do with the dieing in your dreams phenomena. Because of course if you could 'control your dreams' then you could adjust the outcome and if you didn't want to die, then you wouldn't-therefore the answer would be 'no-you can't die in your dreams'.

But since, there are no lucid dreamers that we know of on the site that were on the brink of death before they 'chose' to stop themselves, then your theory is great, but isn't very likely.

I mean really, if we could all lucid dream-meaning dream of whatever we wished..then I know most of my dreams would be of Russell Crowe, Robert Wisden & Daniel Craig playing Twister-with ME!

Forget all this 'dieing' in ones dreams business...I'd have more..ahem..crucial scientific--yes, that's what we'll call it, scientific theories to set forth :D
